Definitely feeling the extent of starting a new school and adjusting to the new routine.
He has such a delicate sensory system and can so easily be overloaded, the sensory information becomes too overwhelming to tolerate. He is having to cope with so much input due to all the change, a shutdown is a ‘freeze’ response to it.
Tonight he is shutting himself off and retreating from the world around him, going inside himself for comfort. It’s protective mode. He can’t even hear me saying his name.
He allowed me to carry him from this chair to the sofa, for safety but to give him time and space while he recovers. He barely moved a muscle as I did so 😔
